According to ABC News, Pras of the Fugees along with a former Department of Justice official were accused of reportedly taking part in a conspiracy to get tens of millions of dollars into the US to help a Malaysian fugitive sway DOJ investigations.

These allegations surfaced via court documents filed by prosecutors in a federal district court this past Friday in Washington, D.C.

Pras and former DOJ official George Higginbotham allegedly went after help from an unidentified candidate who was running for federal office. The issue involving Pras and Higginbotham was addressed by former attorney general Jeff Sessions last year, and found Sessions saying the scandal involves the Malaysian government creating an investment company “to promote long-term economic development for the benefit of the Malaysian people.”

No charges have been publicly filed against Pras. However, Higginbotham was charged with a felony count of “conspiracy to make false statements” to a bank, which he ended up pleading guilty to.
