Donald Trump just announced his support for a bipartisan agreement on prison reform legislation called the FIRST Step Act. Trump told those on hand, "Today, I am thrilled to announce my support for this bipartisan bill that will make our communities safer and give former inmates a second chance at life after they have served their time."
The bill will propose a couple different measures as it pertains to criminal justice reform. The new legislation will focus on reducing mandatory minimums, expanding "drug safety valve" to reduce the total number of nonviolent drug offenders serving mandatory minimum sentences to name a few of the proposed measures.
