According to PageSix, prior to the fatal shooting of Sutton Tennyson, he and Angela Simmons were embroiled in a custody battle over their two-year-old son, Sutton Jr. A source close to the former couple stated that Simmons was looking for Tennyson's monthly child support payments to be raised from the $1,250 he was paying.
After making domestic violence claims against Tennyson including filing an order of protection in December 2017, Simmons was granted temporary custody of their son in July. Before his untimely death, Tennyson was preparing his bid for joint custody.
