A white woman patronizing a Brooklyn deli falsely accused a Black child of groping her but surveillance video showed that the boy hadn't. The woman, Teresa Klein, said the boy grabbed her butt on his way out of the store while walking with his mother. During a brief confrontation with the mother, Klein can be heard saying in the viral video shared on Facebook, "I just was sexually assaulted by a child."

But after returning to the convenience store to review the surveillance tape, Klein's accusation was proven false. "Young man, I don’t know your name, but I’m sorry," Klein said. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said in a statement "We cannot dismiss false complaint calls to the police with mere apologies, sincere or not, [...] We need to be clear: There are consequences for outlandish and threatening public behavior that seeks to intimidate innocent bystanders, especially children."
