Whether it's in Tekashi 6ix9ine crediting him as the inspiration that led to his career or Future shouting him out on his "Spin The Block" collaboration with Lil Durk - RondoNumbaNine's name has continued to resurface in the game since his incarceration and 2016 conviction for murder.
Over the weekend, Rondo's name arose once more, and this time nobody had to conjure up a recollection of his face to hold its place, as a photograph straight out of Menard Correctional Center came along with it. The image surfaced on his official Instagram page, which followers know to be headed by a quote that reads: "Minor setback for a crazy comeback! Get ready for the real to return n give y'all what y'all want and some!"
Barring a miracle, the streets will not get to see the OTF rapper for a few decades. He is currently in his second year of a 39-year prison sentence that doesn't afford him parole until 2053. And although the homey Durk and others from his camp have been putting their money where their mouths are in their pledge to fight for his appeal, he faces an uphill battle towards receiving any kind of injunction that might bless him with a release in the near future.
One never does know, though. Back in June Durk spoke optimistically about Rondo's case - predicting that he would be out at some point this year. It is a projection that his loved ones can only pray will materialize. Until that day, they've got their ability to pay the once-promising Chicago drill artist visit and here and there they've got a photograph, as do his fans.
