Trump spoke with reporters on Tuesday (Aug 21), following the conviction of former campaign chair Paul Manafort. The president expressed his displeasure with the decision and immediately attempted to distance the conviction from the Russian meddling scandal, stating, “It’s a very sad thing that happened. This has nothing to do with Russian collusion.” Trump also made sure to add that none of this has anything to do with him as well. He said the entire thing is “a witch hunt and it’s a disgrace,” before adding “I feel very badly for Paul Manafort.”
