More than 80 overdose cases rocked the New Haven area this week all related to synthetic marijuana known as K2. On Wednesday, first responders were responded to 25 overdoses in a three-hour span with the frequency being four, to six different people at a time. According to New Haven police officer David Hartman, there were 76 reported overdose cases with 71 of those victims being transported to local hospitals. By Thursday afternoon, that number reached the "high 80s" said New Haven Police Chief Anthony Campbell.

There have been three arrests made in connection with the case but authorities were hesitant to say whether all three or just one person was responsible for the outbreak of overdoses.
