Update: Police have named John Lee Cowell, 27, as the suspect in the Oakland BART station stabbing that killed Nia Wilson, 18, and injured her sister, Lahtifa, 26.

A manhunt is underway for Cowell, whose motive is unknown in the attack that police are calling "viscious" and "unprovoked."

According to reports, two sisters named Nia and Tashiya Wilson were attacked while at a BART station located in Oakland, California. The attack, unfortunately, left one of the young women dead.

The stabbing reportedly happened around 9:45 PM at the MacArthur station on Sunday, July 22. 20-year-old Tashiya received treatment at a local hospital for her injuries while her 18-year-old sister Nia was pronounced dead. According to police, they are still on the hunt for the suspect, and there has been no motive for the stabbing. The suspect was described as a 5’9” white male with blonde spiked hair.
