Ayub Ali, 61, was the father of two children who survived the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High earlier this year, and on Friday (July 20), it was revealed that Ali was shot and killed during a robbery at his convenience store.

Police say the shooter held Ali at gunpoint and stole money from the register, and he came back a short while later and fatally shot him. Ali was the sole provider for his family, including a daughter and three sons, the youngest of whom is 22 months.

Ali's daughter, Elama, told CNN that her father was the one who originally wanted his kids to go to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High. She stated, "The reason we moved to Parkland was because he liked the school. I didn't want to move here. But he told us, 'We are only moving because the school is amazing.'"

Police have yet to make an arrest in the case.
