Marques Houston was recently on Beats 1 when he revealed that Ty Dolla $ign joined the group Immature, headlined by Houston when Ty Dolla was just "seven or eight." “Ty was in Immature’s band when we first started, [...] He’s like a year younger than me. It was cool. It was like, he’s the homie. We were like brothers." Houston spoke of Ty Dolla $ign's connection to the music industry through his father who was a member of the 1970s and 1980s group Lakeside, "His dad, Big Ty, was in the music and stuff like that, and Stokes knew his dad. It just kind of happened like that.”
Houston also noted that Ty Dolla $ign was "really, really musically inclined" pointing out that at a young age Ty helped with programming and also hopped on the keys on some early music.
