On Wednesday (June 20), Donald Trump signed an executive order that will keep families together after they're caught illegally crossing the border wall, but it won't reunite families that have already been separated. Previously, adults crossing the border were separated from their children and processed for criminal charges with the Justice Department.

This comes after days of the Trump administration claiming that their hands were tied when it came to separating families caught at the border. Now, adults will not face criminal charges and instead, they will be held in detention with their children at the Department of Homeland Security. The only exception is when there is fear for the child's well-being.

Trump spoke on the viral images of children being detained after being separated from their families, saying, “I didn’t like the sight or the feeling of families being separated.”
