In honor of National Pride Month, Detroit’s own Dej Loaf is showing her solidarity with the LGBTQ community as she announces today (June 8) that she will be footing the bill for all marriage licenses for same-sex couples in New York City today, June 8.

While premiering her new single, “Liberated” featuring Leon Bridges, Dej Loaf posted an all-text picture on her Instagram with a statement that read, “On June 8th, I am helping people get liberated. Visit New York City Hall To Have Your Marriage License Costs Covered By Me.” The caption added that couples were to arrive at 141 Worth St. in New York, NY beginning at 8:30 am.

One commenter spoke on her experience visiting the courthouse for their couple’s wedding license and added further context for those who wanted to attend. “For CLARIFICATION guys she is actually paying for it! However, you have to pay for it first and as you exit she has people outside with gift cards to reimburse you. Great work Dej! Unfortunately, couldn't get mine today cuz my wedding is in 83 days and after 60 days your license expires so I would have ended up paying again anyway. Appreciate the gesture though. And blessings to all those getting their license today,” she wrote.

Congratulations to those who have received their wedding licenses today.
