The meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un is very important considering tensions between the nations and threats of war. Despite all that, the ever-confident POTUS said Thursday that "attitude" was more important than preparation and he doesn't have to do much.

“I think I’m very well prepared. I don’t think I have to prepare very much. It’s about attitude, it’s about willingness to get things done, but I think I’ve been preparing for this summit for a long time,“ the president said from the White House during an appearance with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

“So this isn’t a question of preparation, it’s a question of whether or not people want it to happen, and we’ll know that very quickly.”

While some have speculated that the meeting is merely just a photo op, Trump dismissed that notion and said the sit-down with Kim would likely be only the beginning of the process.

“It’s more than a photo-op. It’s not a one-meeting deal. It would be wonderful if it were. There’s a lot of enemies out there, a lot of dislike, a lot of hatred between countries,” he continued.

“At a minimum, we’ll start with perhaps a good relationship, and that’s something that’s very important toward the ultimate making of a deal. I would love to say it could happen in one deal, and maybe it can,” he said but only if Kim finally agrees to get rid of its nuclear weapons program. This is something the rogue regime has been unwilling to do despite pressure from Trump and sanctions from the United Nations. Foreign policy experts believe Kim is still unlikely to get rid of the nukes.

“They have to denuke. If they don’t denuclearize, that will not be acceptable. We cannot take sanctions off. The sanctions are extraordinarily powerful,” he added.

Despite the pessimism from experts, the president remained optimistic ahead of the sit-down.

“I think it’s going to be a very fruitful meeting, I think it’s going to be an exciting meeting. I think we’re going to get to know a lot of people that our country never got to know,” he said.

When asked if he would get in a round of golf while in Singapore, Trump replied “No” before adding “I’d love to.”
