Trey Songz is reportedly being sued by a Detroit cop who claims the singer punched him in the face in late 2016.
According to a report from TMZ, the alleged incident happened on December 28, 2016 at Joe Louis Arena, where Sgt. Robert Avery was working crowd control at Songz concert. While onstage, he reportedly said "if a n***a cut me off I'm goin' the f*** crazy," referencing stage lighting being shut down because the performance went on too long. In response, Songz threw equipment off stage, before jumping off it himself.
He allegedly threw a microphone stand into the crowd, which hit a photographer who has also filed a lawsuit of his own.
Avery says he attempted to arrest the rapper, but he resisted and got punched in the face in the process. Avery claims he then fell and struck his head on concrete. According to him, he sustained injuries as a result, which included a forehead contusion, swelling to his right temple, and visible bruising, in addition to injuring his hip.
Additionally, Avery alleges that Trey said "F**k you cracker. White motherf****r. F**k all you honkeys and f**k the police." Songz was charged with assaulting, resisting, obstructing a police officer, and aggravated assault.
