It is now official - there are over 8,000 registered rappers with "Lil" before their names on Spotify. If that were not enough, at least three more "Lil" rappers are added every year. Lil Wayne appears to be the most streamed "Lil" rapper of all time, followed closely by Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty.
With the birth of Soundcloud era of rap, the amount of "Lil" rappers in the world appears to have grown significantly. As such, it has almost become a joke in the rap world. But whether you like or not, it is now a central piece of contemporary rap culture.
This phenomenon marks a 106% increase over last year and a 725% increase over 2016. Spotify listed the top 200 "Lil" rappers currently on the platform. Here is a list of the top 20:
