After winning the Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles will not be making a visit to the White House. The White House released a statement, which stated that the Eagles disagree "with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country."
The Eagles followed up with their own statement, which read, "It has been incredibly thrilling to celebrate our first Super Bowl Championship. Watching the entire Eagles community come together has been an inspiration. We are truly grateful for all of the support we have received and we are looking forward to continuing our preparations for the 2018 season."
Trump followed up with a tweet, and former Eagles wide receiver Torrey Smith took to Twitter to reveal some insider information. He revealed that while not many people were going to the event, "No one refused to go simply because Trump 'insists' folks stand for the anthem."
