50 Cent's famous #GetTheStrap hashtag has gotten himself into hot water with a high ranking member of the NYPD who didn't take the phrase as figuratively as the rap mogul typically intends it to be. As a result, he has been named in a complaint that may lead to some pretty serious charges for allegedly threatening physical harm to the officer.

In a post that he shared to express his displeasure with news of a hip hop club in Brooklyn being shaken down by head of Sunset Park's 72nd precinct, Emmanuel Gonzalez, Fiddy got a little loose with the usage of his favorite idiom. “They trying to shut him down,” he said of his friend and owner of Love & Lust, Imran Jairam, before adding: #GetTheStrap. Fif's post was in reference to reports that Gonzalez had been pressing Jairam for gifts in exchange for the easy operation of the joint. But, all Gonzalez says he took from the message was a literal interpretation of the remark as a threat coming from the Queens entertainer.

In documents filed with the court, Gonzalez points out that many of Fif's 18.1 million fans on IG followed up on the post with threats that caused him alarm. Gonzalez wrote that he “is annoyed, alarmed, and is in fear of his safety,” over Fiddy's use of the term.
