Trippie Redd has exerted a lot of time and energy quarreling with Tekashi 6ix9ine over the past year, with both artists really ramping up on their beef in recent weeks. The feud has lifted his name into the company of the most talked about artists in hip-hop, but it has also caused him to question whether it's been worth it to exhaust himself over shenanigans.

On Wednesday, May 23, Trippie took to his 3.2 million followers on Instagram to boldly declare that he will be leaving all of the rap game friction he's been toiling through, alone, cold turkey. In a lengthy post that he ended by requested that fans type "1400/800" if they are in agreement, Trippie traced his journey back to when it all started for him at 13 years old. He did so as a means of highlighting how far off course he's strayed from his goals as an artist, who at this point realizes he's been forsaking his craft in the interest of entertaining those who aren't even necessarily invested in his music.

"Sorry for being so involved in so much negativity. I’m putting all that aside from here I’m done with involving my art and intelligence with others I shouldn’t even be giving people the light of day," Trippie said, before explaining why he will no longer be engaging the drama. "If you look up my name on YouTube it shows - VIDEO VIDEO GOSSIP GOSSIP GOSSIP NEGATIVITY VIDEO NEGATIVITY GOSSIP VIDEO - I’ve sent my sent way off goal term just to prove a point to people that don’t care," he said.

Trippie's post came just hours before he updated his IG activity with a recording of 6ix9ine throwing shots his way while receiving a plaque acknowledging the success of his Day69 project. For Trippie, at this point, it would seem that such a video would be neither here nor there. He seems to have his eyes set on legacy.

"I just know I’m here to set an example for you guys and other artist and ima just be the bigger man and step up and say fuck this negative bull shit I’m letting my music speak for its self U guys have my word no more negative shit," he wrote.
