The custody battle between Nas and Kelis continues on. The couple had a very public break up while Kelis was still pregnant with their son, Knight. Since then, the two musicians have been in and out of court in what has become one of the ugliest custody battles in hip-hop history.
Although she currently receives $8,000 a month in child support, Kelis feels like she deserves more. She has been fighting to get Nas to send her more cash, and she claims her monthly expenses amount to $25,000. Both musicians were forced to submit their yearly earnings to the courts, and Nas' expenses are more than triple Kelis', as he spends $77,000 on bills and providing for different family members.
In her court documents, Kelis claims that she spends $4,500 on child care, $1,300 on private tutoring, and $400 for a separate math tutor (for their son), $5,726 on her mortgage, $1,1913 on groceries, $1,233 on dining out, $1,500 on laundry and cleaning and $1,728 on clothing. It was also revealed that the singer made $922,840 last year, while still sitting on $691,153.22 in her bank accounts. Kelis also owns $1,374,000 in property. It will be interesting to see how Kelis intends to argue for more child support, now that is had been revealed that she makes about a million dollars a year.
