Recently, news broke of a shooter taking the lives of eight students at Santa Fe High School in Texas. Now, the mugshot of the 17-year-old shooter named Dimitrios Pagoutzis has surfaced. Take a look above.

In the wake of the horrific mass shooting Santa Fe High School in Texas, it has been confirmed by Texas hospitals that a total of eight students have been killed at the hands of a lone gunman while 12 have been injured. The triggerman has since been brought into custody today (May 18).

Santa Fe Independent School District has confirmed the injuries of the 12 students by an “active shooter” on their official Facebook page according to TIME. Since then, they stated that the situation has since been “contained” by local law enforcement.

The Houston Chronicle has reported that Santa Fe High School Assistant Principal Cris Richardson informed them that a yet-to-be-named gunman has been “arrested and secured.” The Chronicle, along with KHOU-TV revealed that eight students have died in the shooting via local law enforcement.

Ed Gonzalez, the sheriff of the nearby Harris County, tweeted that one suspect was in custody and one other person had been detained. He added that a police officer was also injured. Several students at Santa Fe High School told local news stations that the gunman reportedly opened fire in an art class during first period around 7:45 a.m.

“This morning an incident occurred at the high school involving an active shooter. The situation is active, but has been contained. There have been confirmed injuries,” the school district wrote in a statement.

“Details will be released as we receive updated information. Law enforcement will continue to secure the building and initiate all emergency management protocols to release and move students to another location. All other campuses are operating under their regular schedules.”

The Chronicle has reported that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has now issued a statement saying, "The thoughts and prayers of all Texans are with the people of Santa Fe and those affected by today's tragic shooting. As horrific reports come out of Santa Fe High School, my office stands ready to assist local law enforcement as needed."

The incident in Texas is the latest mass shooting after one took place this past Wednesday (May 16) at Dixon High School in central Illinois; and three months after 17 people were killed the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
