Update: The Park County Coroner's office in Montana ruled that Superman actress Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane, died "as a result of a self-inflicted drug and alcohol overdose."

Kidder's family released a statement, urging "those suffering from mental illnesses, addiction and/or suicidal thoughts to seek appropriate counseling and treatment".

Actor Margot Kidder passed away at the age of 69. The actor was known for her role as Lois Lane in the Superman movies starring Christopher Reeve.

Along with making appearances in the Superman movies, Kidder also appeared in shows like Mod Squad, and films like Rob Zombie’s Halloween II.

According to CNN, Kidder passed away in her Montana home this past Sunday (May 13). The cause of death is currently unknown.
