Like many who figured they'd have a leg up in a series against a Kyrie Irving-less Celtics team, Meek Mill was high on his Philadelphia 76ers' chances in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, but the Dreamchasers rapper isn't giving up on 'The Process.'
"We got a young team, and you know, we're just learning. The experience in the playoffs... we ain't been in the playoffs in a minute... We have a young team, and you know, the game is about wins and losses," Meek replied in response to Stephen A. Smith's inquiry into what he thinks might have gone wrong - during his appearance on First Take on Thursday, May 10.
Many of the sportswriters and commentators who've opined on the 4-1 outcome of the series have blamed head coach Brett Brown for the Sixers' early playoff exit. With a roster led by the talents of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, the standard narrative that has taken shape insists that the tools were there, but the right decision making wasn't. For Meek, however, it just comes down to the lack of maturity. Which he sees coming in time.
"I think these losses that we took right now are gonna teach us a lesson, and next year we're gonna come back ten times stronger," he said.
