Comedian Michael Blackson believes Kanye West did not “explain” himself correctly after suggesting slavery was “a choice.”

Speaking with TMZ, Blackson expressed that slavery was no more of choice than West’s wife, Kim Kardashian being robbed for her jewelry back in 2016.

“He didn’t explain himself well enough,” Blackson said. “There is no way you could explain that. That’s like saying his wife got robbed by choice when she went to Paris.”

The comedian argued that West must create some excuse to counteract the criticism he has received. “He got to come out with something man,” he said. “He got to blame it on the opium or whatever he was addicted to. He got to do something… I feel like something’s not right… he might just have to find a better way to explain it because I’m not understanding.”

Blackson went on to describe his recent trip to Africa where he visited a slave castle and learned about the atrocities that occurred during slavery. He added that enslaved Africans were not equipped to take on the weaponry of enslavers.

“You can’t fight a gun,” he said, adding, "They couldn’t fight their battle. It wasn’t by choice.”
