The recent courtside rift between Drake and Kendrick Perkins has raised enough concern to draw a warning from the NBA's front office.
According to reports, executive vice president of basketball operations for the league, Kiki Vandeweghe, brought up the issue over the testy exchanges during a personal talk he arranged with Raptors president Masai Ujiri. ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski confirms that "the use of bad language" from courtside at the Air Canada Centre became one of the focuses of their discussion
Fans will recall how Perkins and Drake mouthed off at one another a couple of times during the Eastern Conference semifinals opener between the Raptors and Cavs in Toronto. Tensions initially heated up between the rapper and the baller when teams parted for their locker rooms during half-time on Tuesday night, May 1.
"What happened was I was talking to my old teammate Serge (Ibaka) walking into halftime telling him 'We about to win this game,' and Drake butted in talking s**t to me. So I said something back to him," Perkins would later tell Wojnarowski. They'd then go head to head once again when the game was finished and Perkins was headed to the locker room.
Drake is accused of hollering "f**king p**sy" at some point during the dispute, but he'd later say on Instagram that he simply told Perkins, "I like the hem on his capris."
