50 Cent has long considered himself the king of New York. It is a title that has been claimed by several New York emcees, including JAY-Z, Nas, P. Diddy and Biggie Smalls. Most recently, Tekashi 6ix9ine declared himself the king, sparking a nationwide debate on which New York rapper had the credentials to make such a bold claim in 2018.
50 seemingly backed Tekashi's claim to the throne in a video where the two are together and 50 says "Tell 'em what you runnnin'! Tell 'em what you runnin'!" "New York is mine, man, " responds Tekashi.
6ix9ine previewed a new track this week and was immediately called out for taking lyrics from a classic New York freestyle. DJ Akademiks pointed out the lyric rip with a cutscene of both Tekashi rapping the bars, and Yoppy Montana (the original creator of the lines) saying the same lines years before. 50, who is the king of trolling, commenting on the post, writing, "Damn jay z did that to big a hundred times."
Yoppy Montana took to Instagram and posted a video of himself speaking with Tekashi and showing him love and support. It doesn't look like Montana has any problem with Tekashi using his lyrics.
