A former stripper, Veronica Beckham, recently got a huge inheritance from an HBO executive and IT director, Mickey Liu, who made her the beneficiary of his retirement account and 401k life-insurance policy, worth a total of $223,000.
However, Mickey's sister May Liu, contested the sum in court claiming that, "[Beckham] preyed upon Micky Liu’s vulnerability by exerting influence over him in the form of moral coercion." Mickey and Veronica met in July 2014 at the Scores strip club in Atlantic City and since then formed an "everlasting friendship," according to Beckham.
Meanwhile, Liu suffered from alcoholism, heart condition, diabetes, and obesity, reports the New York Post. He died at the age of 50 in March, alone in his Manhattan apartment.
"In her ruling, Justice Rita Mella said only prior beneficiaries, such as the deceased’s former wife or girlfriend, could sue for the inheritance," reports Newsweek. In response, Stephen Holihan, May Liu’s attorney, said his client wasn't ready to give up and will review the decision.
