Cardi B's former manager Klenord "Shaft" Raphael is suing the rapper for $10 million.

Shaft claims that he helped turn Cardi into the megastar that she is today. He says he began working with her in 2015 after she sought him out. Shaft says he taught her about the music business, arranged her relationship with VH1's "Love & Hip Hop," and also connected her with songwriters and producers that are responsible for her hit song "Bodak Yellow," which catapulted her to superstardom. Shaft alleges that the hit song allowed her to secure major record and publishing deals worth millions.

The former manager says he was tossed to the sidelines and has since been left out of her remarkable success that he helped orchestrate. Shaft also claims that Cardi defamed him by accusing him of stealing from her.

A spokesperson for Shaft told Page Six in a statement, “Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image. While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which is detailed in the complaint. Shaft is confident that his lawsuit will validate his conduct and substantiate his legal claims.”
