It's hard to say which track on KOD was the most impactful on the culture, but many have been excited to talk about J. Cole's alleged diss towards Smokepurpp and Lil Pump on "1985."

That's probably why Smokeurpp claims he doesn't listen to the Dreamville honcho and believes Lil Pump is better than him. What's the connection? Let's get those dots moving for you.

Both Pump and Purpp have made public disses towards J. Cole in the past. Pump even went as far as previewing a diss song called "F**k J Cole" which was never released. Purpp ended up inserting himself sticking up for Pump due to his frustration of "OG rappers" of today not having respect for the evolution of music. Fast forward to KOD on Cole's finishing song, "1985 (Intro to 'The Fall Off')," where he rhymed to his unnamed opposition:

“I heard one of em’ diss me, I’m surprised

I ain’t trippin’, listen good to my reply

Come here lil’ man, let me talk with ya’

See if I can paint for you the larger picture"

He went on:

"I must say, by your songs I’m unimpressed, hey

But I love to see a Black man get paid

And plus, you havin’ fun and I respect that

But have you ever thought about your impact

These white kids love that you don’t give a f*ck

‘Cause that’s exactly what’s expected when your skin black”

It was assumed by everyone, including the Soundcloud rappers, that they were being targeted. Pump publicly shared that he wasn't feeling the verse and sounded off on Cole being "lame" for dissing a 17-year-old.
