Followers of Montana Of 300 might have been pleased to learn that he plans on joining 21 Savage, Tekashi 6ix9ine, A$AP Rocky, Safaree and others who've jumped on the "Who Run It (Remix)." But many of those who did get their hopes up about him coming through with those bars likely won't be holding their breath seeing how he's only raised around $600 of the $15K he's demanding if fans wish to really see him go on the beat.
Montana has drawn a mixed reaction since announcing on Instagram that he'd be willing to be a part of the viral moment if the price is right. He began spreading the word on Tuesday, April 16, and in the 48 hours that have passed since the GoFundMe that he set up to collect, donations haven't inspired confidence that the "Who Run It" wave will still be here by the time his goal is reached. What's more, as the days go by, it appears that the Pray 4 the Devil rapper may wind up spending more time fending off the haters than plotting out his rhyme.
One day after posting up about the fundraiser, Montana shared an exchange he had with a troll who questioned why he would need fifteen racks if he has a net-worth of $8 million, as he has claimed. "What I already have don't got s**t to do with what I demand for my services," was Montana's response. But he wasn't clear of criticism at that point. Hours later, fellow Chicagoan and the artist responsible for reviving the Three 6 Mafia instrumental, G Herbo, hopped on social media to share his reaction to hearing about the drive.
"Oh, man. Y'all got rappers out here opening GoFundMe's and s**t, for 'Who Run It' and s**t," Herbo laughed. "Folk, what the f**k is going on?"
