DJ Paul shut down the "Who Run It" movement with his own freestyle.
The OG Three 6 Mafia member was the head man responsible for the track way back when. The artist explained to Fader that the original song came about in 2000 after playing around in the lab.
"Basically, how it happened was, I had a version of ‘Who Run It’ that had keys and scary music in it. And everybody loved that version, but I remixed it and made a new version one night in the studio by myself...We were going to a show in Mississippi, and I came on the tour bus and played the new version for everybody from a cassette tape. They went ape s**t on the bus.”
Clearly, hip-hop has still been going crazy since artists of this generation took it upon themselves to pay homage to the pioneers by creating their own "Who Run It" freestyles. DJ Paul should appreciation to the likes of 21 Savage, G Herbo, ASAP Rocky, Lil Yachty, and many more before announcing that "the champ is here."
Social media has been going off praising the originator for absolutely destroying beat. He also generously gave fans some visuals to feed their hunger.
