Eddie Murphy fans who were last year stoked to learn that "Black-ish" creator Kenya Barris and director Jonathan Levine have joined up to bring "Coming to America" back with a sequel, may be happy to learn that plans are on the table to return "Boomerang" to a viewing audience. Only, this time, the 1992 Murphy film will return to the small screen as a BET production.

On Tuesday, April 10, the Black entertainment network announced that it has issued a straight-to-series order for the reboot. According to the memo that got around on the impending project, Paramount Television has a half-hour comedy format in the works that promises to deliver "Boomerang" in a manner which explores “contemporary workplace dynamics, including the changing role of gender, office politics, relationships and the conflicts between Generation X and millennials.”

While the prospective story-line is said to follow a protagonist based on Murphy's character, there has been no confirmation that the legendary actor/comedian himself will be filling the role.

Neither has it been disclosed whether or not any of the actors from the movie's supporting cast will be coming out in the series. By press time, Halle Berry, Robin Givins, Martin Lawrence, Grace Jones, nor Murphy himself have openly remarked on the development.
