Black Panther continues to break records. It is currently the top grossing superhero movie of all time (not adjusted for inflation) and the Ryan Coogler film is still raking in millions upon millions. The movie fixed a plethora of problems in the MCU, such as not having a villain that was fully realized and had true character growth (Loki being the only other Marvel villain in ten years to really nail the role).
Black Panther brought in $19 million worldwide last weekend. That includes $11.26 million in North America. The miraculous Marvel movie has now earned $650 million domestically and $1.273 billion worldwide. That makes the predominantly black cast mega-hit the tenth-biggest global grosser of all time, fourth-biggest domestic grosser of all time, and the third-biggest IMAX/3D movie of all time. It will also push past Jurassic World and Titanic this week to take third place of all time domestically, aiming for the top spot which is held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Coogler's superhero epic grossed $242.1 million over its opening weekend, which is the biggest debut for a Black director. Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
