As was the case with the passing of legendary Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy last year, scores of artists and industry executives took to social media to pay respects and grieve openly over the passing of Bad Boy original, Craig Mack, earlier this month. But according to respected turntablist, DJ Scratch, not one celebrity but him could be spotted at the late emcee's wake.
"I’ve never been to a service for someone famous & I was the only famous person to show up. Very weird day today, but what puts a smile on my face is that Lil Bro was at peace way before he passed away. That’s what matters most to me," Scratch wrote in a message shared on Instagram on Wednesday evening, March 28. The post was of a funeral program showing a picture of Mack, his date, and details about the event.
Just last week, Master P showed his love for the rap artist born Craig Jamieson Mack while scrutinizing those who fail to celebrate their loved ones while they are still alive. Due to his decades-long absence from the public eye, and the general alienation it appeared that he experienced as he drew closer to the church of controversial preacher Robert Stair, prior to his death Mack was viewed as someone who had become estranged from hip hop.
According to accounts by those close to him, though, DJ Scratch was among the few who in the industry who actually kept communication with him until his dying day.
