This NBA season has been one of the strangest officiated years we've seen in recent history. NBA referees are willing to remove athletes from playing eligibility quicker than ever by passing out flagrant fouls, technical fouls seem to be at an all-time high after minimal player or coach reaction, and the replay technology is being utilized more than ever.

And it's not just us fans realizing the problem with the officiating crews around the league, New Orleans Pelicans coach, Alvin Gentry, has noticed a particular bias involving his star seven-footer in Anthony Davis.

According to the Pelicans head coach, Anthony Davis doesn't receive the number of foul calls he believes he deserves because Davis isn't vocal about the physical abuse he takes while facing his opponents.

But in reality, Davis averages a total of 7.8 free throw attempts per game which is decent for a player with his amount of offensive weapons in his arsenal. Anthony Davis is also averaging 27.9 points per game, 11.2 rebounds per game, and 2.3 assists per game which is amazing for someone only six years into their NBA career with potential to still grow as a player.

The New Orleans Pelicans currently sit at the eighth seed of the Western Conference with a record of 39-30 and with the west being as tough as it is, the Pelicans need every game that they could win to be a success. Hopefully, Gentry's comments wake up the officiating crew, and we get more improved cores throughout this year's playoffs.

With that said, do you agree with Alvin Gentry's statements on NBA officials? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
