The Golden State Warriors will be down one more All-Star heading into their next several games, as it was confirmed via MRI on Friday (March 16) that the injury Kevin Durant suffered during their most recent matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves will require that his day-to-day status be extended to two weeks.

Durant had been sore for days after the side of his torso bumped up against Karl Anthony-Towns on a fourth-quarter drive to the basket earlier in the week. As a result, he was forced to sit out Golden State's last game and is reportedly being shut down for the remainder of March. Durant has been diagnosed with an incomplete rib-cartilage fracture.

While it is likely that the Warriors will have him back for the six games, Dub Nation is scheduled to play through April and there is no promise that they're going to want to rush him back. Durant joins Steph Curry (right ankle sprain) and Klay Thompson (fractured right thumb) as the players who've been sitting games out with injuries.

With the Houston Rockets all but set in position to run away with the Western Conference, head coach Steve Kerr may just select to play it safe and give the banged-up trio some extra rest so that they are fresh heading into the postseason.
