Things are looking rather hectic in the UK right now.

Last week, an assassination attempt failed in the English city of Salisbury. Former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were infected with a deadly nerve agent that sent them both to the hospital along with a British police officer. Authorities believe that the toxic chemical weapon, called Novichok, was planted in Yulia's bag before she left Moscow.

The nerve agent Novichok was created by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It remained a secret in Russian until the early 90's when information leaked of its existence. Novichok has rarely been seen or used outside of Russia.

During a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar in the Oval Office on Thursday, President Donald Trump stated that "it certainly looks like" Russia was behind the attack.

He continued to state "It certainly looks like the Russians were behind it. Something that should never, ever happen, and we are taking it very seriously, as I think are many others."

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has expelled 23 Russian diplomats from the country after an investigation pointed to Russia as the culprits behind the attempted murders. She stated that expulsion would "fundamentally degrade Russian intelligence capability in the UK for years to come." The Kremlin has vehemently denied all accusations.
