In May of 2017, Kanye West was seen wearing a hat that looked eerily similar to one Shia LeBeouf was seen wearing just weeks before. Kim Kardashian would later reveal in a tweet that the hat (then Kanye's favorite) was indeed the actor's hat and was gifted to the rapper. There was never much mention of the full story behind that exchange until now.
In a profile for Esquire magazine, Shia LaBeouf explained how Kanye got ahold of his Indiana Jones hat and the rest of the clothes in his closet. Kanye was very vocal about being a fan of Shia's style. In an outtake of "No More Parties in L.A." the tastemaker rapped, "I wish I dressed as fresh as Shia LaBeouf."
Sometime after, West went to discuss potential art collaborations with Shia at his home. While there Ye being the forward person he is asked LaBeouf if he could have some of his clothes for a pop-up shop. Shia says he obliged the request because he had previously taken his Kanye-obsessed mom to see the Chicagoan in concert and "he was a f**king sweetheart to her." It paying the good deed forward Shia agreed to let Kanye take everything he wanted.
Kanye allegedly took everything in the actor's closet. "He took all my f**king clothes," Shia revealed to the publication.
