There was a major update at SXSW about the long-awaited sequel to Twins (1988). It has been 30 years since the premiere of the unconventional film about twins (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito) who were separated at birth.

The film was written by Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon. As reported by Deadline, Schwarzenegger told the crowd at SXSW that the script to the sequel titled Triplets is done. He also revealed that Eddie Murphy would be introduced to the family in this forthcoming project. Murphy will be playing the third triplet who Bonnie Bartlett's character failed to mention giving birth to in the original film.

There was no word on the plot of the movie, especially considering how a Black man is part of the multiple births to white parents. But Schwarzenegger teased that there's a “funny thing that happens in the mixing of the sperm.

The original film was a success grossing $11 million its opening weekend and about $216 million worldwide over time. While the sequel was first discussed in 2012, it was said to be put on hold by Gas in 2015. Now reports claim it will begin shooting this current year.

There is no release date set for the feature film.
