Lil Yachty sat down with Rob Markman for Genius' new segment For the Record. Yachty spoke about his latest project Lil Boat 2, which is his sophomore release since the melodic Teenage Emotions.

Yachty and Markman take a deep dive into the difference between the two albums, the controversy surrounding his debut, and also the sonic shift to harder raps in this new project. This album brings back Yachty's alter-ego Boat and features Quavo and Offset (Migos), Lil Pump, and 2 Chainz.

Yachty is known for his "good guy" characteristics and clean imagery in his music. In speaking about watching other rappers go through the trials and tribulations, Yachty reveals how his ties with major corporations have stopped him from working with Tekashi 6ix9ine.

"Me and 69 we never spoke on allegations or anything. It's unfortunate because anytime I want to do anything with him -- I wanted to do a sit down with him yesterday, and he showed up before me. He was outside. He was there," Yachty said of the controversial rapper.

"I tell them who it is and 'No, you can't do it. We're not filming him.'' Yachty says that "different corporate people" stop him from working with Tekashi. Listen to Yachty speak about Tekashi's tarnished image at the 27:18 mark.
