On the eve of Lebron James and Isaiah Thomas' first game against each other since Thomas was traded, a new wrinkle has been added to the drama. ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin and Brian Windhorst are reporting that James was skeptical of the Isaiah Thomas trade from the beginning. The skepticism was apparently due to Thomas' hip injury, and whether he would return to all-star form.

According to the report, James thought Cleveland should have gotten more in return when they traded All-star point guard Kylie Irving in the offseason. The Cavs ended up with Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round selection.

Thomas missed most of the first half of the 2017-18 season. He returned to action in January, but he struggled to shake off the rust.

Cleveland dealt Thomas to the Los Angeles Lakers along with Channing Frye and a first-round pick for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. at the trade deadline, the second time in less than a year he was traded.

Currently, the Cavs are third in the Eastern Conference with a record of 38-27, but only a half-game ahead of the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Standings.

Meanwhile, the Kyrie Irving-led Celtics sit comfortably in second place in the East with a 46-20 record.
