Musicians who play off taboo subjects like religion get a good deal of press hounding them about their beliefs. Take Lil Uzi Vert for example, who enjoys wearing upside down crosses on his neck to symbolize a fascination with demonic energies.

Although the upside down cross is actually a widely worshipped Catholic symbol worldwide, the Hollywood hype surrounding the inverted cross has corrupted its true meaning. Up and coming rapper Trippie Redd has been taking a great deal of heat for his apparent references to the devil and the mark of the beast. Redd took to social media to dispel the rumors of his satanic alliance on Wednesday,

Redd and Swae Lee dropped a track called "TR666" last year, which originally sparked the rumors of hip-hop devil worshipping. While on Instagram, Redd cleared the air, stating, "6 protons, 6 neutrons, 6 electrons. Melanin in black people's skin. Why I say 'TR666'? 'Cause Trippie Redd is black. But Trippie Redd is also dark. I make dark music."

The scientific cop out is only half correct though. Carbon, the basic building block of all known life, has 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons. Technically, melanin is made from Carbon, just like everything else in living things.
