Nassau County police have finally apprehended a woman who has been on the loose since fleeing from a Long Island movie theater where she dumped popcorn on the head of a child two months ago.
Keri Karman, 25, and her father, Charles Karman, 61, were arrested on suspicion of endangering the welfare of a child, on Friday, March 2. Investigators managed to identify the daddy-daughter pair and trace their location through surveillance footage and receipts from a credit card used at Levittown's AMC Dine-In on January 2.
It was on that date that Keri became so annoyed by the chattiness of little Harley Riggs that she turned an order of popcorn over on the two-year-old; clocking her head with the tub, it came in, in the process.
The Karmans, Harley, and her mother Celia Riggs were seated next to one another during a viewing of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. According to Mrs. Riggs, the confrontation started when Karman snapped on her daughter and cuffed a hand over her mouth while telling her to shush so that she could hear the film. Riggs says that she confronted Karman about her aggression, but that Karman only took it one step further by then emptying her food on Harley's head.
The Karmans immediately left the theater after the incident, leaving Celia Riggs to console her daughter and seek out justice until the arrest. Charles Karman was also taken into custody and charged because he never attempted to stop Keri, and whats more, went on to harbor her in his home rather than turn her over.
