Followers saw a different side of Mia Khalifa in her interview with Lance Armstrong.

The actress got her claim to fame thanks to her very bold choice of career: porn. While she's been a talent that surely many men and some women have enjoyed, the adult star has taken a noticeable break from her on-screen work. She took time on the denounced Tour de France winner's podcast, The Forward, to share why exactly that is.

When Khalifa was at the peak of her sex-based career at 21-year-old, she unintentionally brought some controversial attention to herself. The Lebanon-born Catholic wore a hijab in one of her scenes. What may have been exciting and "kinky" for some, was a blatant symbol of disrespect to others. Others being ISIS.

Mia spoke on her regretful life choices after the terrorist group made their disgust be known, by sending her death threats. It understandably shook Khalifa and caused her to end her career in the porn industry.

“As soon as I started to gain popularity that’s when I was like ‘get the f**k out of this’ ... this was not what I was trying to do whatsoever. I just wanted to let loose and rebel a little bit. It didn’t validate me. Nothing like that ever does. That’s not what you should be doing to try and build your self-esteem.”

Opinions about Mia may vary, but Armstrong admitted that he has "a ton of empathy and respect" for her. He went on to say "...there are plenty of kids that have taken pictures with me, and their parents have posted it; then other parents have said ‘I can’t believe you let your kid take a picture with Lance Armstrong’. So I get it.”

Lance shares the feeling of knowing what it's like to face the critical side of notoriety after being banned from cycling.
