Over the past couple of months, rumors and accusations of sexual assault and rape by hip-hop pioneer and mogul Russell Simmons have been making headlines with several women coming forward and speaking their truths about some of the acts that have occurred while in the presence of the co-creator of Def Jam Records.

While these accusations are currently in the investigative stage, Russ has been compliant and willing to work closely with the NYPD to prove his innocence, all the while stepping down from all of his positions at his respective companies and brands, in which the general public has been quite critical of.

With these accusations surfacing at a time where women in all facets of entertainment, politics, and society, in general, are coming forward, the topic of Russell Simmons alleged crimes had been a topic a lot of us hip-hop fans/purists have veered away from. But from the looks of things, Russ still has some female supporters in the culture in the form of former Def Jam artist, Foxy Brown, who recently penned a short open letter/caption on an Instagram post stating the following:

"Attesting to the character of the man who, as a teenager saved my life. Salaciousness and scandal garners headlines. Cowards cower. But as inarguably, Russell’s biggest Def Jam female protege, (who birthed an era of overtly evocative stars), the man I’ve known and loved, was nothing more than the respectful, respected, gentleman and GODFATHER OF HIP-HOP we’ve all adored. In staunch support, Praying for you Russ!💋. Let’s send our LOVE. ❤️Fox @unclerush."

Many in the hip-hop community have been hesitant to come forward and defend Russell Simmons, but it looks like some women in his life including Kimora Lee and Foxy Brown still will come to the defense of the man who is responsible for jump-starting the careers of some of hip-hop's royalty.

Let us know if you think Russell Simmons will be able to move forward from these accusations unscathed and continue to be hip-hop's spiritual guru and godfather in the comment section below.
