In the absence of much acknowledgment from sitting Commander-In-Chief, Donald Trump, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students who have taken their fight against politicians bought by the gun industry found a supporter in Barack Obama.

Just one day after Michelle tweeted out that she was "behind" the impassioned protesters "every step of the way," Barack took to Twitter to second that emotion.

"Young people have helped lead all our great movements. How inspiring to see it again in so many smart, fearless students standing up for their right to be safe; marching and organizing to remake the world as it should be," he said, before echoing the former First Lady. "We've been waiting for you. And we've got your backs."

This is the second time Obama has used Twitter to speak out in reference to the Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School shooting, with the first coming the day after the massacre.

Already, the deadliest attack on a school since the Sandy Hook tragedy that took place under his administration has dominated his Twitter activity for 2018. Prior to his first tweet on the matter, Trump's predecessor had only posted once to mark Martin Luther King Day, and once more to wish his wife of 26 years a happy Valentine's Day.
