Fans who've anticipated Young Thug dropping the tentatively titled HiTunes album for nearly three years now will have to wait for a bit more. Not only is the YSL rapper pushing his studio debut back to 2019, he isn't planning on releasing material this year, period. It is a leap of absence that he says he's taking in the name of his disabled brother.

"I've got a deaf brother," Thugger told Hypebeast during an interview that was recorded at a New York Fashion Week show. "I've got a brother who can't hear or talk, so I want to act deaf for a year. So, I ain't going to put out no music this year."

Of course, what Thug does concerning music won't be impacting his work in the fashion game. That became evident with his return to participate in Phillip Plein's and VFILES' productions earlier this month. During the Hypebeast interview in which he announced his hiatus from the studio, the boundary-pushing Atlantan spoke on his long infatuation with style and how loud he's always tried to be with the clothes that he rocks.

Regardless of his affinity towards fine threads and a failure to have thus far produced an actual LP, however, Young Thug's commitment to recording has been unquestionable. So says the fact that he's put out five mixtapes in the span of two years. Hence, it would be a shocker if he indeed follows through with intentions to fall back from the mic.
