Steve Wilkos was the head of security for The Jerry Springer Show from 1994 to 2007 before being gifted with his own talk show. The Steve Wilkos Show has been on the air ever since. Unfortunately, Wilkos was involved in a single-car accident last month, where he hit multiple poles and a tree before his vehicle flipped over on West Avenue in Darien, Connecticut. At first, Wilkos told TMZ that the cause of the crash was a vision issue. He normally wears glasses when he drives, but he was not wearing them during the accident. Wilkos claimed that he was reaching for his glasses when he hit the curb and then lost control. He also stated that he never drinks.
Now, Wilkos has come forth with the truth. Speaking with TMZ once again, the former Marine stated, "Over the course of my life, I have been struggling with bouts of depression and on the day of my accident, I had a complete lapse in judgment which resulted in me drinking and getting behind the wheel of my car." Wilkos continues on to allude to a rehab visit, saying, "This experience reinforces my commitment to get the professional help that I need and I have recently completed an intensive medically supervised program."
