Seattle police have released footage of the shooting of a suspect possessing a weapon.

The unidentified suspect was shot and killed at approximately 5:15 a.m on Monday. He was caught in Seattle's, Ravenna neighborhood. The suspect was rummaging through the back seat of the stolen vehicle. However, he refused to reveal his hands to the cop to be certain he had not been carrying a weapon.

Although the King County Medical Examiner's Office has custody of the suspect they have not been able to publicly identify him. Cops later released a photo of a weapon on the floor of the stolen vehicle known as a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm.

At around 4:20 am, officers were in a hurry to respond to an emergency phone call about the car prowler in the residential area.

The video displays the suspect jumping out of the vehicle as police approached him but he began to flee on foot, ignoring commands to surrender.

Officers provided first aid to the suspect after he was shot but it was too late. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Department policy states, all officers involved in the hunt are to be placed on paid administrative leave as the department proceeds their investigation.
