Donald Trump Jr. made his way to India to promote new Trump-branded luxury apartments this week, and the president’s eldest son found himself making some rather sharp observations on the country's less fortunate.

During an event hosted by CNBC-TV18 on Wednesday, Trump Jr. praised the poor of India for their ability to smile despite dire positions. “I don't want to be glib but you can see the poorest of the poor and there is still a smile on a face,"

It is a different spirit than that which you see in other parts of the world where people walk around so solemn, and I think there is something unique about that" added Trump Jr.

He would go on to state that some "successful businessmen in the world” are the most “miserable people.” Trump Jr. continued his remarks by linking the energy he saw in the smiling faces to the promising outlook for the future of the country.

And there’s that spirit that really shines through, and I think that speaks to the future potential of what this country could do, because that to me is everything, and it’s always been amazing to see, because I couldn’t even understand it until you keep coming back and it’s there, and it’s not a show.”
