27-year-old, Rafael Lopez from Los Angeles was accused of starting a wild chase by police, which ended after the suspect stole a truck and crashed into a Metro Gold Line tunnel along with a female passenger. He is currently being held behind bars on $150,000 bail.

According to Huntington Park Police Sergeant Abigail Valle, once police were able to spot Lopez in the stolen vehicle, they started their chase.

News helicopters got the footage, capturing shots of the suspected driver crashing into other vehicles and advancing to speed off.

The driver proceeded into East L.A., followed by Boyle Heights as he alarmed onlookers on the westbound tracks. Witnesses stood by watching the suspect drive into the tunnel of the Metro Gold Line.

Authorities say Lopez and the female passenger left the truck unattended and began to run. Authorities attempted to close off several exits. Soon after Lopez ascended from the tunnel around 11 p.m, he was caught and taken into custody without further disturbances.

However, the female passenger who fled with Lopez was nowhere to be found at the time of the arrest.
